This post is written by David Nunnery, owner of the Teach Them Diligently Convention. My family and I attended the 2012 and 2013 Teach Them Diligently Conventions. In 2014 I will be speaking again at the Nashville TN, Washington D.C., and Dallas TX, events. The Teach Them Diligently Convention is a sponsor of Free Homeschool Deals. Here’s my full disclosure policy.
Why should you come to Teach Them Diligently?
“It was like a revival”
One father after a speaking session led by Stephen Kendrick in Spartanburg, SC, in 2012 proclaimed that “it was like a revival.” Although there are over 100 homeschool conventions in the United States and Canada every year, there is nothing quite like a Teach Them Diligently Convention, so– what makes a Teach Them Diligently Convention so different?
Vision and Foundation
It is the vision and foundation that make us different. The point of Teach Them Diligently is to encourage and renew the vision of Christian homeschooling which is to disciple your children and equip them to go into the world and glorify God. It is the Gospel that makes us distinctive. After almost three years, Teach Them Diligently Conventions has ministered to thousands of families, and we have received hundreds of testimonies from individuals who’s lives have been changed as a result. One of my favorite testimonies came from an attendee in Omaha in 2013 was that the “place was thick with the Gospel.” Another favorite is from a mother who was in Nashville in 2013 that described the event as an “absolute God Send.”
Our Gospel focus is the reason that even many non-homeschooling families also feel comfortable at Teach Them Diligently. There are numerous reasons homeschoolers start the journey of home education. Far too often, families desperate for help will turn to some method that promises it will make our children smarter, more capable, or more “Christian.”
However, at Teach Them Diligently we advocate a foundation not a method. We should view our home as our Jerusalem. We are working in the front line of the Great Commission which is the home. Academics will be well represented at Teach Them Diligently, along with instruction on methods, strategies, and how-tos for teaching and organization like you would find at other homeschool conventions. However, what is different about Teach Them Diligently is this commitment to the authority of the Scriptures and centrality of the truth of the Cross. The foundation is the Grace of our Father and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And this will be presented in each session, whether it be on academics, parenting, marriage, family discipleship, organization or anything else.
What Can You Expect At Teach Them Diligently?
Teach Them Diligently will have many great speakers. Pam Tebow, Stephen Kendrick, Ken Ham, Voddie Baucham, Todd Friel, Sally Clarkson, and many others have or will speak for Teach Them Diligently. Go to our website to see our speakers for 2014. There will also be a large exhibit hall with diverse resources to help you on your journey. Plus we offer an exciting children’s program, teen program, men’s breakfast, robotics classes and Getting Started Homeschooling Track. This event is built for the entire family, not just Moms. It is a family discipleship and homeschool convention built on the Gospel because we believe families need this foundation, but we also believe that the families of America is where revival will start. If you have come before, come back! Refreshment, Renewal, Revival–they need to happen constantly. We hope to see you in 2014!
