Help your child learn to count from eleven to twenty with this teen numbers counting activity.
Learning to count with preschoolers might be easy with numbers one to ten. Moving on to the teens can be very tricky.
Seven out of the ten numbers all end with the same four letters. This can be very confusing for some children.
My children struggled for a little while as they learned to differentiate those numbers. It became easier when they learned word spellings and noticed similarities to the first ten numbers.
It certainly requires practice to learn the “teen” numbers.
This candy-themed activity will help your child recognize and learn numbers eleven through twenty.
To begin this activity, print out the candy mat and the 20-frame cards. Gather enough manipulatives (small erasers, tiny toys, etc) to cover the mat.
You may wish to laminate the pieces if you plan to reuse this activity.
Invite your child to choose a 20-frame card. Have them count out the boxes on the card.
Once they have the number, they will identify it on the candy mat and cover it.
Use this activity as part of a lesson or a fun learning game.
