Most everyone has Christmas traditions they keep year after year, special things they do to remember Christmases past. One special family tradition is having a craft time to make new ornaments, like this snowman Christmas ornament craft.
Ornaments made of salt dough, gingerbread, popsicle sticks, and clothespins come out every year to decorate the tree. Memories of time spent with mom and dad are wrapped around each one.
If you don’t have an ornament tradition, this is a great time to start one. Simply follow these directions and gather easy-to-find materials to get started.
You’ll need wooden beads, paint, buttons, fine-point sharpies, craft thread, pom-poms, and pipe cleaner. You can follow the directions as listed or try other ideas using what materials you have on hand.
Older children will have no problem creating their snowman ornaments. Smaller children may need guidance and a steady hand for things that require fine motor skills.
For a fun project, make a snowman – or woman – for each member of your family. Add yarn hair or bits of fabric for clothing or scarves.
