These free printables resources to help kids ask good questions will help you raise critical thinkers and maximize learning.
When you have a little one pulling at your coat tails asking a question every two seconds, it seems, it is hard to realize just how important questioning is.
As students get older you understand that frivolous questions surely arenʻt the best, but learning to ask useful questions can truly help our children.
Asking questions shows creativity, curiosity and helps gain knowledge and problem solving skills.
The biggest breakthrough with my kids when teaching them to ask questions that were worth asking was teaching them the difference between thin and thick questions.
Thin questions can be answered right from the text (i.e. yes or no answers, facts, characters, etc.) Thick questions really help kids think and evaluate situations (i.e. What do you think about…?, What would happen if…?, Why did…?, etc.)
