Yes, I work part time/intermittently for the National Park Service. My husband works the summer season for them as well. We are never working at the same time – and we share in the schooling of our two boys. I work either evenings or nights, mostly during the off season and so when I am working nights, my husband teaches all subjects. Most days we divide subjects so we both teach both sons each day. This works quite well for our household.

Yes, I work 3 swing/graveyard shifts a week in the emergency department. My husband does not homeschool, but I find that if I diligently plan lessons I am very stress free about accomplishing weekly goals, and it stays organized. I have learned to embrace a very messy house, as I am simply not a magician… but I’d trade the mess for this any time, and I’m realistic that I can’t be perfect in every single area. My kids seem to be happy and thriving, so the system is working. People point out how simple it would be to do public school and work day shift instead of taking on this extra work, but I LOVE what I do, both in and out of the home, so for me, there is no other way. I’d prefer to be a sahm, but if that isn’t sustainable for us, this is the next best option. I love it!
