You don’t have to be a professional musician to incorporate early music education in your homeschool. Teach your children basic theory with these printables for learning to read music.
“There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.” ― Albert Schweitzer
I am not sure about the cat part, but I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Schweitzer’s thoughts about music.
Doesn’t it seem that everything in life is better when set to music? What a miraculous gift from God music is.
These printables will help your students learn the basics of music theory.
Theory is basically the language of and the instructions for performing a musical piece.
The first part involves identifying notes on the staff, in treble clef and bass clef. Your child can fill in a blank staff with the corresponding notes.
The next part is learning to identify sharp notes and flat notes. A partially labeled keyboard is included for your child to explore.
Lastly, your child will learn basic note values, symbols, and the names of the two clefs.
Challenge your student with a cut-and-paste activity at the end of the study.
