Number recognition and counting are important skills for early learners, but some may struggle. Make learning to count fun with this printable snowman counting game.
Children learn best while having fun, so it is good to have several learning activities on hand. Counting games encourage children to learn to identify numbers and to count correctly.
Practicing over and over is the only way for some students to “get it.” They can have fun while practicing and not even realize they are learning.
This printable counting mat game is a fun way to engage children in counting practice.
Start by choosing a full-color or a black and white set of pages. Print out the pages, separate the cards, and laminate them for durability if you wish.
Gather 20 manipulatives such as tokens, pompoms, or small erasers. Your child will use these pieces to cover the numbers on the game sheet.
Stack up the counting cards and show one to your child. Invite them count the number of snowflakes and locate that number on the game sheet.
To add a bit of fine motor challenge, have your child use tweezers to place their pieces.
