This colorful activity is best when printed on cardstock and laminated if you can do so from home or the classroom.

Count a number of spaces forward and backward while playing the game, teaching the kids how to add and subtract.

Pick out what you want your game pieces to be and place them all on the start square. Shuffle the cards and place them face down. The first person to take a turn chooses a card.

Looking at the card you’re supposed to count however many objects are there that go along with this pumpkin theme. Count tally marks, pumpkins, and pumpkin pie. By counting how many objects are on the card, that’s how you know how many spaces to move forward or backward.

Children repeat taking their turns one after another until one player reaches the last pumpkin and becomes the winner.
