Sunday was our 12 year anniversary. We bought our 12 passenger van (the weekend before), the math works! We also hit our favorite restaurant Olive Garden.
These goofies followed us to OG, wink.

My husband is a “car guy,” and believes our boys must start on their right of passage into the “car guy kingdom.” Their learning “auto mechanics 101,” They’ve already learned about changing oil. Last weekend they had their first lessons in changing brakes and rotors, under dad’s watchful eye.

Monday, the kids turned in the money the raised for the Pregnancy Center from their Birthday Bash. Then they took their personal Birthday money and went Lego shopping. It’s easy to tell “Lego Atlantis” is a BIG HIT with Zion!

Monday-Thursday evenings this week Jadin had County League Tackle Football Camp (FREE). His huge blessing is one of his best buddies is doing tackle football with him this year. Another bonus, there’s also a few other homeschool kids playing football this year. Together Jadin and his friends have been tackling comments from other kids like “Oh, man. Your lucky you homeschool. You don’t have homework and you get to watch TV all day.” In which Jadin reply’s “Your right, we don’t have homework because we get our schoolwork done during the day. And NO WAY do we watch TV all day. We don’t waste time on THAT!” Every night after practice we’ve stayed after an additional 30 minutes for Jadin and his buddy to practice throwing together too.

We also enjoyed some nice days in the field, playing in the sprinkler, picking flowers and black berries.
Our black berry harvest (about 15 minutes of picking).

We also had a lovely day with three other homeschool families swimming. Something like 15 kids that day, not everyone pictured : ) Another good LOL in the face of those pesky “homeschool socialization” questions. This topic came up between us homeschooler mothers as we watched our pool full of children, and we all just LAUGHED OUT LOUD!

Friday was our big Once-A-Month-Shopping day. I wrote a grocery saving tips post one night this week when I just couldn’t sleep.

Our BIG plans for this weekend are: Saturday I plan to spend the day wrapping up loose ends and getting ready for school to start on Monday! We’ve had about 6 weeks of wild and crazy Summer fun. This momma can tell by a few attitudes and behaviors we need to get back to structure and routine. PLUS, after resting our brains a tad (also finished reading Narnia “The Last Battle” this week) I can’t wait to jump into our stimulating learning for next school year! I already added a Schedules page to the top of our blog. I did a typical “day in the life of” schedule of what a typical day looks like in our home. Also, what our annual schedule is for 2010-2011. If you missed it I also added our 2010-2011 curriculum. I also wrote out our boys basic “Responsibilities Chart.” Thank GOD for homeschool freedom, which includes being able to create our own schedule and design our own lesson plans/curriculum! Sunday our 35 chickens, fencing and chicken coop will be delivered. I’m VERY excited about this. Their going to be a great addition to our pretend farm.
This is our weekly wrap up. CLICK HERE to check out other homeschoolers week!

Looks like such a fun week! Your little Gabriel is so precious.I have a Gabriel too, but he's 3 now.
This is our last week of summer break, too, so I can relate. We're waiting until Wednesday to start, though. I would have waited until the following Monday, but I needed three extra days to make my official 180 for the year.
That's awesome that your husband is teaching your boys how to do basic auto mechanics. It saves so much money to be able to do those things yourself. Your future daughters-in-law will thank you. 😉
