It may be almost summer, but homeschool planning is year-round! This cute kindergarten sight word activity will be a big help when introducing sight words to your emerging reader.
Sight words are the most common words in our language. Readers recognize these words on sight without sounding them out.
Learning sight words helps children learn to read faster and more fluently, especially more difficult words. They don’t always sound the way they are spelled so they can be harder to read.
There are several ways to teach sight words, like posters or flashcards. A more enjoyable method is through fun activities or games!
This treasure chest sight word activity will be the perfect addition to your kindergarten homeschool.
It includes 316 sight words that your child can practice reading and spelling!
Print the pages you wish and cut out the words and letters. Notice that the letters are coins and jewels for your treasure chest!
Your child will choose a word from the pile, then locate the matching letters from the coins and jewels. They will build the word and place the letters on the treasure chest.
