In our family’s continual quest to be frugal stewards of the financial seeds that God has given us, one thing is for sure, we are never ever without anything we need. But even above our needs being supplied, God has continued to grow the seed of giving in our hearts. When I met my husband over 15 years ago, he was already one of the most generous, kind, humble, and God loving people I had ever known. But because God is so good, I have watched my husband’s love for God, generosity, humility, loving kindness, patience, creativity, financial wisdom, and many other good things multiply for God’s glory.
Like many of you, I grew up cooking and baking with both of my great-grandmothers, my two grandmothers, and my mom. Both cooking and baking for me are very nostalgic. I certainly understand it when people say that there is a lot of “love” in their cooking. I was taught by all of the beautiful ladies in my life, not only how to cook and bake phenomenally, but to put “love” in it. Thankfully God has also blessed me with a husband who also grew up around lots of love in the kitchen and who just happens to be the best baker I have ever known!
Although holiday baking was a tradition I was born into, it also become one of the many ways my husband, children, and I “give” year round. At first this way of giving for my husband and I was birthed out of a lack of money for traditional gift giving. However, as time went on, we realized that even when we did have the finances to buy traditional gifts, nothing brought more joy than sharing our “love” through our baking. We have even been approached to make baked goods for several local coffee shops in different areas of the world we have lived once they caught wind of our baked goodies!
