Multiplication was hard for both my children. Fractions are hard for my kids now. Trying to tackle these together is not fun but necessary. One thing I learned was that kids have to be comfortable with multiplication and have to comfortable with fractions before they can move on to multiplying them. Really “getting” these two concepts is a prerequisite for the next level of multiplying fractions. They all need a lot of practice and these free worksheets for multiplying fractions will help.

Cross multiplication took some time when teaching my eldest. When attempting to teach my son, I realized I had to go back over multiplication for some time for review. That is just one of the beauties of homeschooling, we can make sure our kids really “get” what they are being taught. So, let your kids take their time and give them plenty of practice.
