Preschoolers practice prewriting to build fine motor skills and ease into handwriting. With this Free Thanksgiving Prewriting Packet, your child can practice early writing motions.
The first motions children learn to write are horizontal and vertical lines, diagonal lines and Xs, and several simple shapes. As they practice and get used to using a pencil, eventually those lines will become letters.
Worksheets designed for practicing these first motions are great for building hand strength, fine motor skills, and attention span. Success with practice exercises helps build confidence.
Prewriting exercises are the perfect tool to kickstart a great writing journey. My son’s handwriting regressed a few years back and I had to almost start from scratch to get it legible again.
It was odd, but I realized he never had prewriting practice, so I now I am an advocate.
This set of worksheets offers pages for drawing lines, loops and tracing shape outlines. The pages print in black and white and illustrations can be colored.
Save on ink costs and laminate your pages. Offer your child a dry erase marker to complete the exercises.
