Sea turtles are one of the most graceful and captivating creatures of the ocean. Use this free sea turtles unit study to learn all about them in your homeschool.
Growing up in the city I never thought I would ever be in close proximity to a sea turtle. So when I moved to an island where sightings were possible, my kids and I were super excited.
Sometimes we would often go to a certain beach because we knew there was a family of sea turtles that frequented there.
They truly are a site to see.
Sea turtles are actually pretty awesome and use their bony, cartilaginous shell to protect themselves from predators.
The shell is a part of its Kelton and is made up of 50 different bones including its rib cage and spine.
Here is a cool fact that comes from where I live! Sea turtles have an incredibly long life span. The oldest ever recorded, named Tu”i Malila, of Tonga Island (where I live!), passed away at the grand age of 188!
