Are you planning to study geology in your homeschool? Don’t miss these free rock study worksheets to learn about all different types of rocks.
My kids really enjoyed learning about rocks and how they form.
On a trip up north when they were small, we hiked a mountain and explored a quarry.
We found so many different types of rocks. We took samples of garnet, tiny pieces of tourmaline, lots of quartz, mica, and so many more.
These rock study worksheets will be a great fit for your unit study in geology.
The first page is a colorful poster of the rock formation cycle to hang in your school area. Your child can refer to this poster for other activities.
A cut and paste graph will challenge your child to sort rocks by type. They will need access to resources such as books or websites to do research.
The definitions page asks for the definitions of metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks. There is space to sketch or paste in a picture of each rock.
Your child can choose a rock they find interesting and write about it on the rock report page. Much of the page has guided questions about their rock to fill in.
