Once you get past the hurdle of teaching your children to read, then you meet a new goal: teaching your children to read with expression. Since it’s not governed by so many rules in the same way that phonics is, teaching someone how to read with expression can be very tricky. In order to help you on your teaching journey, then take a look at this Reading Expression Activity + Tips from All About Learning!
This activity is called “Round Up the Sheep”. You can print out the instructions and pages and cut out the cards. On each card is a sheep with an expression word at the top. On the back of the card is a sentence. Your child is supposed to read the sentence with the mentioned expression. Continue until they go through all the cards, and then mix and match sentences and expressions! This resource also includes 5 more ways to help teach your children reading expression with links to other freebies!
