This basketball bracket-shaped free March book reading template will help your children get excited about reading during basketball season or for basketball fans in your home.
Have you ever seen a basket ball competition racket for tornaments? They use them in combat sports as well. In a basketball tornament teams are randomly matched up for rounds of games.
The winner of the first round goes against another winner and so forth. Thsi is what this template looks like and is how it is used as a reading activity.
Reading fluency is extremely important and it takes lots of practice to help children improve skills and create lifetime readers.
Encouraging our kids to read with their own interests can make a world of difference in getting them to like reading or motivated to read more.
The way your March Madness tornament of reading books works is this:
Your students have 13 slots on the bracket. They read eight books at first then start choosing which book is the every best by process of elimination.
Kids don’t have to read the books all at once or finish in March, of course. Have them log the eight books as they read them on the bracket and take notes of what they liked and didn’t like.
It may take them a whole term to finish the bracket to come up with their #1 book or you can try to finish up in March.
Sounds fun, right!?
