Disclosure: HEAV is my state homeschool organization and I am very thankful to partner with them to promote homeschooling in Virginia. My family and I have received a free family registration to the 30th Annual Virginia Homeschool Convention, as well as covered hotel expenses – in lieu of paid advertising on this site. This is a blessing and makes it possible for my family to attend this event. Here’s my full disclosure policy.
The annual Virginia Homeschool Convention will be held in Richmond Va – June 6, 7, and 8.
My family and I will be at the upcoming 30th Virginia Homeschool Convention. I attended the convention last year and it is always overflowing with wonderful experiences for the entire family.
Here are a few events during the convention that we’re really excited about.
- We are so excited to hear the Duggar’s speak! We love their family, have their kid’s names memorized, and learn from their example (Yes, we’re crazed fans!).
- I can’t wait to hear Steven and Annette Economides speak. Their book, America’s Cheapest Family, was a life saver for me when I quit my full-time job to stay home full-time. (I worked full-time the first 3-years that we homeschooled.)
- Huge USED Curriculum Sale – Oh, My! The used curriculum sale is amazing. God bless all of the volunteers who make it such a success. Just picture a warehouse size room that is filled with what appears to be rows and rows of books, products, and gently used (even some new) curriculum. It’s a homeschool moms dream. Last year I bought several read aloud sets there. It makes my heart happy just to think of that room again!
- Over 140 homeschool workshops. Again, heaven.
- Gigantic exhibitor hall! I get excited about the exhibitor hall because I know many of the wonderful people behind several awesome homeschool companies. So for me it’s like a reunion of great friends. My kids will love the exhibitor hall because of the hands-on NASA robots! The exhibitor hall is a chance for you to get your hands on super curriculum, meet homeschool speakers, and get your questions answered.
- Homeschool Chess Championship. We love Chess and all of our kids play chess. I plan on both of our older boys playing in the championship this year. Gee, what about homeschool socialization?
- I love the Homeschool Graduation Ceremony. I get all poetic and teary-eyed when I think of parents handing their children their homeschool diploma. Homeschooling is a beautiful, beautiful, gift.

We’ll be at HEAV, too! Homeschooling just works for us. We move a lot, internationally. It is our one thing that can remain constant. Besides it being very rewarding and flexible, I could go on for days.
I am so excited to have stumbled across this blog. This was our first year homeschooling and it was a success although a sincere challenge. I couldn’t have done it without our local homeschool community and I would love the opportunity for our family of 6 to expand our network of support by attending the convention in June. 🙂 God Bless.
Jenny
This would be so great!
I get to spend each day learning more about my children, and I cherish all the time with them 🙂
I can’t wait for the HEAV convention. It has been a few years since I have gone. 😀 This would be a HUGE blessing to win.
WOW!!!!! What a great give away. We also live in Virginia. I have followed your many blogs for years and didn’t realize that you lived in VA too!!! We have not been able to afford to go to the convention for a year or two I believe. I would really like to win this as I am and avid fan of the Duggars as well!!!!!
What a blessing it would be to win this! I plan to attend any way because it is so encouraging but it sure would help if I could go for free. 🙂
We LOVE to homeschool because we can’t imagine it any other way!!!!!!!!!
I love homeschool because I get to spend precious time with my children and because when they learn something, it’s such a proud moment knowing we did that together! My oldest just learned to read, and it’s still amazing to me that I taught her that in our home!!!
I love spending time with my kids! Watching the lightbulbs go off and learning along with them. So fun!
I love getting to be with my kids every day. I know there will be a day when they leave home and I don’t want to miss a minute of the time I have with them now!
Homeschooling is just what works best for our family! And I got totally disgusted with the heavy focus on SOL’s.
We’re trying to see if homeschooling is right for us. My daughter is bright but sometimes needs help focusing. I don’t know that traditional schools are the answer. My mother taught public school for almost 40 years and became very disillusioned with the focus on testing and certifications instead of learning. I definitely looking at the options but want to start her out with a good foundation.
Homeschooling works wonderfully for our family. My husband works shift work and homeschooling allows us to travel more often.
We love the flexibility it provides for our extended family and our business.
It’s so much fun!
I can’t wait to check out all of the exhibitors!
After having home schooled for the past 13 years, I cannot even imagine what life would have been like NOT having my children with me 24/7 for this good portion of their lives.
This would be an awesome event to attend! It would be my first as I’m hoping to homeschool next year. I would also love to meet the Duggars! Love their show!
I love homeschooling because I get to spend so much time with my children. We love the ability to study deeper what really interests them instead of moving past it to keep on a testing schedule.
I would love the chance to attend the conference! I was so excited to read that parents of preschoolers could attend free, but when I looked into it further on their site, you can only qualify if your OLDEST child is under 5. We JUST started Kindergarden with my 6-year-old this year, but have been kind of “winging it” to see how it went. My daughter is 4 and we want to start her in a Preschool homeschool program in the fall, and my two other sons are 2 and 1, so they’ll be coming up on school in just a few years! I’ve heard from many other homeschooling parents that the conventions are wonderful, but we haven’t yet had an opportunity to attend one.
We love seeing our son bloom and grow, and we’re right along side to help coach him and model life for him. Homeschooling draws us closer as a family. We’d love to attend this conference next month.
I went last year (only for a day) and it was so nice. I was able to go free as a parent of preschooler but I just don’t know if I’m going to be able to swing the money for it this year. It would be so nice to go. Especially as I’m going to be about 40 minutes away from the CHAP convention this weekend and I won’t be able to go as I have to work the whole time.
I went to the HEAV conference a few years ago and it was a blessing even though I live in WV. I am now moving back to VA and would love to attend again.
Homeschooling allows us to spend time together learning about the important stuff, not wasting our time on the stresses often faced by students attending schools.
I haven’t been to a VA conference and would love to see how it compares to Mass!
Living in Richmond, to win this would be great!
This will be our first year homeschooling and we are so excited! Going to the conference would be a huge blessing!
Oh! And I love homeschool because it is such a great way to spend time with my children and be sure they are being raised and raising up others using God’s word.
I love being with my three little bears, get all the cuddles now while I still can and watch them grow and learn!
I am a long time homeschooler in need of refreshment. This would be really great to win. Thanks for hosting it.
I think homeschooling has enabled us to stay close as a family, which might not happen as much if they were gone so many hours a day.
I love being able to be with my children all day. I get to watch the little accomplishments as well as the big ones. It is soooo much fun!
I love to homeschool. It gives me the opportunity to instill values and beliefs in our children. It also helps to provide a better environment for them to learn.
I had my oldest in public school thru 9th grade. That summer I decided to pull her out and homeschool her. It was the best decision we ever made! She now has a chance to go to a great college. She is on a waiting list but she still has a chance to get in. She graduated this year but I have a 3 and 5 year old that are just starting school. We love homeschool!
I love that homeschooling gives us the flexibility to enjoy everyday life. This was my first year officially homeschooling. The year before we tried public school Kindergarten. I LOVE homeschooling. We read what we want to read. No more boring books!
Would love to go to the convention. we are going on our second year and need some curriculum ideas.
We went to HEAV last year for free (parents of preschoolers) and are planning to go again this year. I love homeschooling because of the flexibility and how it allows us to learn together as a family!
Can’t wait for a moms weekend.
We are SO tempted to go to HEAV, even though we’re not Virginians! LOL It’s the first time I’ve heard of a convention hosting a USED curriculum sale! We’re so back & forth about the cost of attending another convention this year though…
I can not wait until the convention. Last year was our fist time attending and we fell in love.
This is our first year homeschooling and I feel like I learned as much as my student did. What a great experience. We are looking forward to many more years to come. I would love to attend the conference.
Would love to go…..been homeschooling for 5 yrs and have never been to a convention!
Would love to attend this convention and get some much needed encouragement.
Would love to win this! We are just finishing up our first year homeschooling our 2nd and 5th graders. We love knowing exactly what our children are learning and letting them go at their own pace.
Can’t wait to go to convention with by best friend!
Been following you for the past year or so on FB…didn’t realize you were in VA! Awesome! See you at Convention!
I am really trying to go this year. Really want to take my 15 year old daughter with me to hear the duggar girls talk. She has asked for weeks to hear them. Plus I’m going with a new homeschool mom. So pick me pick me. Reserving rooms tomorrow.
This would be such a blessing! Thanks for the opportunity!
Thank you for all that you do! Your website is such a blessing and encouragement.
