If you need a relaxing and fun Christmas project, try this DIY Christmas rock art. You’ll only need a few easy-to-find materials and you can let your imagination run wild.
You’ll need to start with a few stones that have flat, smooth surfaces large enough to draw and paint on. You might be able to find these on a nature walk or trip to a river or creek, or you can buy them online.
Your rocks should be cleaned and free of any debris or finishes like sealants or glue.
Use a pencil to draw simple Christmas pictures such as Santa’s face, Christmas tree, reindeer, and presents. Use your imagination and add angels, stars, holly, or anything you can think of.
With acrylic paints, add color to the penciled pictures. Once those are done, add background color and lots of details to make your pictures really stand out.
Don’t forget to add sealant to your rock art to be sure the paint will be protected and last.
Older children will have no trouble creating their rock art, but younger children may need guidance. Although little hands need help, their heads will be full of ideas to create beautiful rock art.
