Counting is a basic math skill children begin learning very early. Help your child understand counting concepts with these cute bird counting mats.
Practice in counting skills is important as children begin to learn number concepts. Hands-on activities help them remember what they have been taught more easily.
Counting mats are an excellent practice resource for early learners. They help with one-to-one correspondence, the concept of digits relating to specific quantities.
To use these counting mats, print them onto cardstock and laminate your mats and small pieces. If you prefer, print the black and white set and have your child decorate them before laminating.
If you desire, use small manipulatives instead of the printable robin counters. Your child can use playdough balls, pompoms, or other small items.
Your child can also use a dry erase marker to draw the number of birds onto the mat. They will wipe clean when they are finished.
The printable set includes numbers from 1 to 20, but a blank mat is included. You can add more numbers as your child is ready for them.
