Have fractions become a source of grief in your homeschool? Take the pressure off with a fun connect four fractions activity.
Let’s face it – some kids really struggle with fractions. The pressure to understand them when it doesn’t make sense can be overwhelming.
Fractions were very hard for me when I was learning them. Thankfully, I had a patient teacher who worked with me and others who struggled.
Practicing was definitely a priority, and my teacher made it fun with games and activities.
Whether your child is struggling or not, this game is an entertaining way to practice fractions. It is geared toward beginners and requires no solving or memorization.
To play, print off the game board and cards. Separate all of the cards and shuffle them around.
Use manipulatives or laminate your board and use dry-erase markers to mark spaces on the board.
The first player draws a card and reads the fraction. Next, they will locate the fraction on the board and mark it.
Players will take turns drawing cards and marking spaces.
The first player to “connect four” spaces is the winner!
